Google Unofficially Announces Android 10’s Release Date

Google Unofficially Announces Android 10’s Release Date

Google has just released the sixth and final beta of Android 10 a.k.a. Android Q. Last week, the search engine giant announced that it will be released within a few weeks, with analysts expecting to see Android 10 by the end of September or the start of October.
However, Google’s customer care, on two different occasions, has stated otherwise confirming Android 10’s release date as 3rdSeptember 2019.
In the past, Google’s customer support has shared the wrong information but this time it seems pretty authentic. This is because Google always releases the newest Android versions on the first Monday of the respective month.
In case Monday is a national holiday in the States, the release will be pushed forward to Tuesday. In this case, the first Monday of September is Labor Day in the US, hence, Android 10 will be released on the first Tuesday of this September i.e. 3rd September 2019.

Refreshed Branding

This time, Google has ditched the dessert names we had gotten used to and has opted for numbers to make the operating system’s name more accessible around the world. This is the first time since 2014 that Android has gotten a major name change.
We will see a few tweaks here and there on Android 10, but nothing major. Android’s mascot has seen big changes though. Not only does it come in a new bluish-green color, but from now on, only its head will be visible. The official font has also seen some changes with rounder edges on individual letters.

Live Captions

As part of its “more modern, accessible look” campaign, Google has now introduced an AI that will power Google Assistant locally.
This will help the assistant in processing speech with zero latency and will also come with a feature called ‘Live Caption’ that will be able to add subtitles to everything in real-time.

Privacy

With the release of Android 10, Google will up its privacy game up as well. The new privacy features, including granular location controls and a dedicated privacy section via the settings application, will help keep the user’s personal information confidential.

Google Photos just got an awesome feature that makes it a must-have Android and iPhone app

Google Photos is easily one of the best apps you could have installed on your phone, especially if it’s an Android device, and especially a specific type of Android that comes with unlimited storage. Even if you prefer a different cloud or storage device for your photos, you should still consider getting the Google Photos app on your Android or iPhone right now, because the service is about to get a super convenient feature.
That’s optical character recognition (OCR), a feature that allows Google to read the text in photos and turn it into text that you can search for, and even copy and paste into documents. That’s a handy feature to have on a phone, especially if you find yourself taking lots of photos of things that contain plenty of text that you’d want to be able to access later. You know, like that secure, but very complex password of your home Wi-Fi. There are other ways of saving that password, of course, but who hasn’t taken a photo of a Wi-Fi password at least once in their lifetime?
Pulling text out of screenshots you’ve saved at some point on your phone is one other great example of what OCR tech can do for you. Being able to find that screenshot by search is also going to be a lot easier than browsing your photo gallery.
According to 9to5Google, it’s the OCR feature that already that exists in Google Lens powering the new feature. Google Lens is an AR app that delivers more information based on the visual data it captures from your surroundings. And now you’ll be able to search Google Photos for text by text using the OCR feature, and then copy and paste the information you needed.
Google quietly confirmed the feature on Twitter, saying it’s rolling out to Photos users this month the ability to search photos by text.

The new Photos feature will roll out to Android first but should be available on iPhone and the web as well.

Pakistan Army spokesperson shows Shah Rukh Khan the mirror

Pakistan Army spokesperson shows Shah Rukh Khan the mirror

DG ISPR Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor called out Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Ban for producing a propaganda-laden anti-Pakistan Netflix web series.
The spokesperson for the Pakistan Army has called out Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, showing him the mirror for producing a propaganda-laden Netflix web series.
On Thursday, Bollywood actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan tweeted the trailer of 'Bard of Blood', his latest Netflix venture that glorifies a fictitious Indian spy and is laced with an anti-Pakistan plotline.
The eight-episode Netflix series follows the stereotypical theme of portraying Muslims as violent and is centered on a plot where almost all Pakistani Muslims are shown as terrorists.
"The trailer of our first @netflix series #BardOfBlood is here. A thrilling tale of espionage, vengeance, love, and duty. Hope u enjoy it...," tweeted Khan with the video trailer.
But the underlying anti-Pakistan India propaganda was visible even from the trailer.
Responding to Khan's tweet from his personal Twitter account on Friday, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor called out the actor for his inability to see reality.
"Stay in Bollywood syndrome @iamsrk. For reality see RAW Spy Kulbhushan Jadev, Wing Comd Abhinandan & state of 27 Feb 2019," said Maj-Gen Ghafoor, reminding him of the real-life Indian spy Jadev caught by Pakistani law enforcers, and Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan, who was arrested by Pakistan after his jet was shot down infiltrating Pakistani airspace, but later released as a goodwill peace gesture.
"You could rather promote peace & humanity by speaking against atrocities in IOJ&K and against Hindituva of Nazism obsessed RSS," said the Pakistan Army spokesperson, reminding Shah Rukh Khan of his responsibility not to fan hatred and instead promote peace.

ND or polarizer? The Sandmarc Hybrid Filter for iPhone gives you both

ND or polarizer? The Sandmarc Hybrid Filter for iPhone gives you both

Neutral density (ND) filters are a requirement for shooting smooth video in bright light, and circular polarizing (CPL) filters are often needed to improve contrast or darken a bright sky — but what if you need both? A new clip-on phone camera filter answers that question, by combining both ND and CPL filters into one. The product is the latest from Sandmarc, a company that specializes in filters for GoPro and DJI and also has a line of mobile lenses, including an anamorphic cinema lens for iPhone announced earlier this year.
The hybrid filters are available only in a three-pack, offering ND strengths of four, five, and six stops for a total price of $130. Each filter uses multicoated anti-reflective glass and is housed in an aluminum frame. Like a standard polarizer, the frame can be rotated to change the angle of polarization, strengthening or weakening the effect to get the desired results. Polarizers don’t just cut back glare, they can also help you “see through” reflections on glass or water.
NDs are especially important for phone videography as phone cameras have fixed apertures, leaving shutter speed as the only variable for compensating for bright light. Unfortunately, the fast shutter speeds required on a sunny day cause video to look jarring. An ND filter darkens the image, letting your phone use a slower shutter. This allows for some motion blur and creates a more natural look that mimics how our own eyes see motion, thus making video easier to watch.
The filters attach to a phone using a simple clip, which is included. In addition to being compatible with iPhones back to the iPhone 4, Sandmarc also says its system will fit many Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and Huawei phones. Additionally, the filters can be mounted directly to Sandmarc’s mobile lenses, which include wide, telephoto, and macro versions in addition to the anamorphic lens.
Mobile photography filters are not new, but they seem to be having a surge in popularity right now — at least from a production standpoint. Mobile lens maker Moment also announced a line of filters this week, offering separate ND and CPL variants with ND strengths ranging from two stops to six.
